From the recordings Solstice and Love & Geography
Composition by Gary Walbrun. This song was conceived and composed pondering the sun setting over a snow covered Minnesota landscape near the time of Winter Solstice. It’s about endings and remembrance, the dimming of days and the eternal cycle of renewal. Dedicated to the memory of Gary’s brother Philip.
Lyrics
The scene: late December, snow on the ground, the Solstice sun sinking slowly into the pink and distant horizon. Nature holding its breath as the Earth turns silently, carrying us below the sky. Reflection. Memory.
